Liquor Delivery Delhi: Allowed After the New App?

Liquor Delivery Delhi: Allowed After the New App?

Delhi still does not allow liquor home delivery in 2026. What started on 27 October 2026 is online booking: DSIIDC, a Delhi government corporation, now lets you book and pay on an app, but you must collect the bottles yourself from the shop within 48 hours.

So if you typed liquor delivery Delhi into Google this week, the plain answer is no. Nobody will bring the bottles to your door. What has changed is that you can skip the billing queue, pay first, and pick up with a QR code. This post explains the new system, the short history behind it, and what you can do instead.

The short answer: booking yes, home delivery no

News reports on 27 October, from Aaj Tak and India TV, quoted DSIIDC officials. Both said the same thing. The new service is advance booking with pickup from the shop. There is no home delivery.

Here is what the rules say, as reported:

  • You must be 25 or older. That is Delhi's legal drinking age.

  • You can book up to 9 litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer per person, as per excise rules.

  • You collect the order in person within 48 hours of paying.

  • You can cancel any time before pickup. Once you collect, there is no return.

  • Only DSIIDC shops take these bookings. That is about 208 shops.

Delhi has four government corporations that sell liquor through more than 700 shops. Only DSIIDC is on the app so far. The other three have not joined yet.

How the Delhi Liquor Booking app works

News reports name the app Delhi Liquor Booking. Before you pay anything. We could not verify an official link for this app. A Play Store listing and a website using the name Delhi Liquor Booking exist, but the listing gives a Gmail contact, was last updated in December 2025, and carries user complaints that money was taken and no order was given. DSIIDC and the Delhi excise department have not published an official link that we could find. Until they do, do not pay on any app or website that uses this name, and never pay through a link from a WhatsApp forward.

As reported, you choose the brand, the DSIIDC shop and the quantity, pay online, and show the QR code at the shop within 48 hours.

Officials say the idea is shorter queues and clear billing, and that the response so far "has not been very good". The full steps are in our Delhi Liquor Booking app guide.

The catch: you booked, but you still have to go

Picture a Saturday evening. Friends are coming at eight. At five, you book two bottles on the app and pay. You feel smart. No queue today.

Then you look at the clock. The shop you picked is twenty minutes away. You take the car out, find parking near the market, and walk to the counter. There is still a line, a smaller one, for people who are picking up. You show the QR code. It scans. You walk back with the bag.

At home, you open the fridge. No soda. Not enough ice. No chips. So you go out again.

The app saves the billing queue. It does not save the trip. For many people, the trip was always the hard part.

How Delhi got here: 2021, 2022 and now

Delhi has talked about home delivery before. It never really happened.

In June 2021, Delhi allowed home delivery on paper. Shops holding an L-13 licence could take orders through apps and websites. It did not really start on the ground. Then the 2021-22 excise policy was withdrawn in 2022, and the idea went with it.

Later in 2022, a draft plan talked about pre-booking on an app, with pickup within one hour. That also did not become a working service.

The 2026 system is the first one that is live. It is still pickup only. The pickup window is now 48 hours instead of one hour, which gives you more room to plan.

What the news did not tell us

The reports answered the basics. Many simple questions are still open. Here is where each one stands.

  • If you do not collect within 48 hours, what happens to your money? Not announced yet.

  • Is the price on the app the same as at the counter? Not announced yet.

  • Which ID will the shop check at pickup? Not announced yet. Carry a government photo ID that shows your age, since you must be 25 or older.

  • What are the booking hours? Not announced yet.

  • Is there a per-day limit on bookings? Not announced yet.

  • Is there an iPhone app? Not announced yet. No official app link has been published yet either.

  • When will the other three corporations join? Not announced yet.

We will update this post when DSIIDC or the excise department says more.

Why liquor delivery Delhi offers deserve doubt

When news like this breaks, fake apps and phone numbers follow. Some will say "home delivery in Delhi in 30 minutes". Some will ask you to pay in advance on UPI to a personal number. Some will copy the name of the new app.

Keep three checks in mind before you pay anyone:

  • No official app link has been published yet. A listing with a Gmail contact and payment complaints is not proof of an official app.

  • The official system never brings bottles to your home. Anyone selling "liquor delivery Delhi" to your door is not part of it.

  • The official flow ends with a QR code that you show at a DSIIDC shop. If someone asks you to share an OTP, pay a "delivery charge", or send money to a personal UPI ID, stop.

Paying a stranger for home delivery can cost you the money. It can also put you on the wrong side of the law.

What you can do instead: a Delhi party, or a Gurugram evening

If you live in Delhi and just want a few bottles, the app is the legal shortcut. Book, pay, and pick up within 48 hours. Keep your home stock within the personal possession limit, which is 9 litres in Delhi.

If you are planning a party in Delhi, the rules change. A party at your own home is fine without a licence as long as the stock stays within that 9 litre limit. For a bigger function, or any event at a banquet hall, motel or farmhouse, you need a P-10 licence from the Delhi excise department. The department's P-10 page lists Rs. 7,500 for most private premises and Rs. 15,000 for a motel, banquet hall or farm that has no licence to serve liquor. The person who applies must be 25 or older. The liquor must be bought from Delhi licensed shops, and the shop bills are kept at the venue with the licence. File early, about ten days ahead, so there is no last-minute rush.

Planning a party or wedding in Delhi? Barmen handles the P-10 licence, the bar and the bartenders. Plan it on WhatsApp.

If you live in Gurugram, life is simpler. There are many licensed stores, and you can appoint a runner for the hour. Barmen's runner service works inside Gurugram only, in Golf Course Road up to Sun City, DLF Phase 1 to 5, Sushant Lok and Galleria. You pay the licensed shop directly, the bill is in your name, and the runner fetches it for you. It is 21+ only, ID checked at handover. It does not bring anything into Delhi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is liquor home delivery allowed in Delhi in 2026?

No. The new DSIIDC service, launched on 27 October 2026, is online booking with pickup only. You pay on the Delhi Liquor Booking app or website, get a QR code, and collect the bottles yourself from a DSIIDC shop within 48 hours. Officials have said clearly that there is no home delivery.

Which app is the official one for booking liquor in Delhi?

News reports name the app Delhi Liquor Booking, but we could not verify an official link, and the listing we found has payment complaints. Wait for DSIIDC or the Delhi excise department to publish it. Be careful with any other app, website or WhatsApp number that uses a similar name or promises to bring bottles to your home.

How much liquor can I book at one time?

As reported on 27 October, the limit is up to 9 litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer per person, as per excise rules. Delhi's personal possession limit at home is also 9 litres. You must be 25 or older to book. Per-day caps and booking hours have not been announced yet.

What if I cannot collect my order within 48 hours?

You can cancel any time before pickup. What happens to your money if you simply do not turn up within 48 hours has not been announced yet. Until DSIIDC says more, book only when you are sure you can reach the shop in time, and cancel early if your plans change.

Can I get liquor brought home in Gurugram?

Gurugram has many licensed stores, and some people use a runner service. Barmen is one option in Gurugram. You pay the licensed shop directly, the bill is in your name, and the runner fetches your bottles, mixers and snacks. The service works only in Golf Course Road up to Sun City, DLF Phase 1 to 5, Sushant Lok and Galleria. It is 21+ only, ID checked at handover. It does not cover Delhi.

Do I need a licence for a party at home in Delhi?

Not for a small party at your own home, as long as the liquor you keep stays within the 9 litre personal possession limit. For a larger function, or any event at a banquet hall, motel or farmhouse, you need a P-10 licence from the Delhi excise department. Apply about ten days ahead.
